Thanksgiving Vegan Brownies with Tahini and Halvah

Vegan Brownies with Tahini and Halvah Ingredients: - 1 cup unsweetened applesauce - 2 cups coconut sugar or brown sugar - 3/4 cup cocoa powder - 1 teaspoon baking soda - 1/4 teaspoon salt - 1/2 cup melted coconut oil - 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract - 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour - 1/2 cup tahini - 8 oz halva, chopped into small pieces

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch square pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together applesauce, coconut sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined. Add in melted coconut oil and vanilla extract; stir again. Finally, fold in the flour until just incorporated - do not overmix!
  3. Spread half of the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Drizzle with tahini, then sprinkle with halva pieces. Carefully spread the remaining batter on top, ensuring that it covers the halva layer completely.
  4. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out mostly clean. Allow the brownies to cool completely before cutting into squares. Enjoy!
